Built for founders, owners and individuals who are not local.
This service is designed for people who work in English and want Montenegrin accounting and tax paperwork explained clearly.
New d.o.o. founders
You have just registered a company, or are about to. Accounting needs to be in place from the start, not from the first invoice. If you have not formed the company yet, we can coordinate that too.
See company formation →Foreign owners
You own a Montenegro company but live elsewhere, or do not read Montenegrin. You want the books kept properly and the deadlines met without having to manage a local accountant yourself.
See tax and banking advisory →Residents with a company
You live in Montenegro and your company is part of your residency or your income. Up-to-date accounts help keep the company, the bank and any renewals in good order.
See Montenegro residency planning →Individuals
Through the same partners we also help individuals with personal income tax returns, tax returns for self-employed entrepreneurs (preduzetnik), and visas and residence permits for purposes other than running a company.

Tragnite is not an accounting firm. The accounting and bookkeeping work is carried out by trusted partner accountants that we work with, who are licensed by the Ministry of Finance as the Law on Accounting requires, and any audit by partner auditors. We coordinate them, keep track of what is due, pass your questions on and explain the answers in plain English.

What Montenegro's Law on Accounting says
A few points from the official text that every company owner should know. This is a summary, not legal advice.
- Books for every company. A company must keep its business books using double-entry bookkeeping, made up of a journal, a general ledger and supporting records (Article 12).
- Annual statements by 31 March. Financial statements for the previous year must be submitted to the Tax Administration by 31 March. Micro and small companies submit a balance sheet, an income statement, simplified notes and a statistical annex (Article 42).
- Licensed accounting providers. Accounting services in Montenegro may only be provided by a firm or entrepreneur holding a licence issued by the Ministry of Finance (Article 18). The partner accountants Tragnite works with hold this licence.
- Outsourcing is registered. A company that hands its bookkeeping to an outside provider must register that contract with the Tax Administration (Article 16).

For individuals
- Annual personal income tax return. Residents file an annual return (form GPPFL) when they have income from, among other sources, self-employment (unless taxed at a flat annual rate), property, capital gains, abroad, or salaries from two or more employers above 700 euros gross a month in total.
- Entrepreneurs on actual income. Entrepreneurs taxed on their actual income attach a balance sheet and an income statement to the return.
- Timing. The return covers the previous year. For 2025 income, the tax had to be paid by 30 April 2026.

Common questions
Who actually does the accounting work?
The bookkeeping and filings are carried out by trusted partner accountants that Tragnite works with, and any audit by partner auditors. The partner accountants are licensed by the Ministry of Finance, as Montenegro's Law on Accounting requires. Tragnite is not an accounting firm. We coordinate the work, act as your single English-speaking point of contact and follow up so nothing is missed.
How much does accounting and bookkeeping cost?
We do not publish fixed prices. The right scope depends on what your company does, how many transactions it has, whether it runs payroll and whether it is registered for VAT. After a short conversation we come back with a quote for your situation.
Does my company need bookkeeping if it has no income yet?
Yes. Montenegro's Law on Accounting requires companies established in Montenegro to keep double-entry books and to submit annual financial statements to the Tax Administration by 31 March for the previous year. The law sets out exceptions for state and local budgets and for non-profit organisations, not for companies that have not started trading.
Does my company need a statutory audit?
Not every company does. Under the Law on Accounting, audits of annual financial statements are carried out in line with Montenegro's audit legislation, and whether that applies depends on your company. The partner auditor confirms the position for your company before any audit work is agreed.
Can you also help individuals?
Yes. Through the same partners we help individuals with personal income tax returns, tax returns for self-employed entrepreneurs (preduzetnik) and visas and residence permits. According to the Tax Administration, residents file an annual personal income tax return (form GPPFL) when they have certain kinds of income, such as income from self-employment (unless taxed at a flat rate), property, capital gains or salaries from two or more employers above a set amount. Tell us your situation and we will confirm whether a return is needed.
